Nymphaea gigantea violacea
Nymphaea gigantea violacea
Nymphaea gigantea violacea has light blue to white petals, yellow stamen and green pads that are green underneath with a slight maroon outer edge. It does not display the deep maroon ovary section at the base of the stamen as the other Nymphaea gigantea’s display.
Most experts believe that this lily cannot grow in the United States because it normally requires 90 degree water. Ken had it on display looking great in 70 degree water when I took these pictures. This is further evidence that his techniques can and do let him achieve success in areas that others have been unable to duplicate. This in addition to his knowledge is what makes him known as the “Species Man”.
