Nymphaea ‘Escarboucle’ is a Latour-Marliac hardy waterlily. It’s date of origin is 1909. It has a bright vermilion cup then star shaped flower in which the outer row of petals have white tips. It produces 6 to 7 inch flowers with 25 petals. There is a slight fragrance in older blooms. It has 10 to 11 inch green pads. It produces a 4 to 5 foot plant spread and is good for medium to large ponds. It is a very desirable red hardy that stays open late in the afternoon long after most hardy waterlilies have closed for the day.
