Nymphaea ‘Bernice Ikins’ is a hardy waterlily. It was created by Dr. Kirk Strawn. It’s date of publication is 1996. It has petals that are described as a glowing red. It is very close to Nymphaea ‘Mayla’ but with a longer lasting bloom time. Bernice Ikins is one of the best Kirk Strawn hybrids that exhibit an exceptional display of deep fuchsia blooms. It has strongly fragrant flowers that reach 4 to 5 inches with 40 to 42 petals. It is a large plant with 8 to 10 inch leaves on a plant that reaches 5 to 7 feet. The leaves are green, plum and deep plum in color.
