Nymphaea ‘Antares’

Nymphaea ‘Antares’ is a tropical night bloomer created at Longwood Gardens by Patrick Nutt. It’s origin date is 1964. It’s publication date is 1974. It’s parentage is Nymphaea ‘H.C.Haarstick’ x Nymphaea ‘Emily Grant Hutchings’. Petal colors are a deep red. The pads are green.

Update – Nymphaea ‘Antares’ by the late Patrick Nutt.
As the gracious gentlemen that he was, he did not even take credit for this hybrid.
He registered it as a creation of Longwood Gardens.
That is the kind of selfless man that he was and a big part of why he will be missed.
